What Are Your New Year's Resolutions?

I used to make them then realized they’d be forgotten all too soon.

I do have goals. I know what I intend to do the coming year for my writing. Such as I have a few new projects in the works and hoping to see them through. My agent and I do the cheerleader bit “Two, four, six, eight, who do we appreciate? Each other!”

And another goal is walking Barney a few times a week. Yes, it will be good for me and even better for him since I’ve learned that mini Schnauzers are prone to gain weight. He’s gained two pounds since he came to live with us in July and he looks more roly poly now. So we’ll do the walkies.

I’ll also be teaching some writing courses on line which I’ll be talking about more soon.

So what about you? Do you make resolutions and keep them? Make them and not keep them? Or just totally ignore them?

Linda

  1. I don't bother with resolutions anymore. I never follow them so why waste the time coming up with them? :) Unfortunately, I have much the same attitude towards goals which I need to nip in the bud.

    Barney is so cute!!!!

  2. I'm realizing it's easier to have just one goal at a time. That way you don't have too much cluttering up the mind. :}

    Barney also knows he's cute. I've discovered that mini Schnauzers are in a class all their own.

  3. No standard resolutions for me. Just goals and high hopes for lots of motivation and creativity.

    I believe I may have FINALLY found a critique partner and I'm very psyched about getting started with her after the first of the year. We're both going into this with our eyes wide open!

    Can't wait to hear about your online courses!

  4. That's great, Elle! A good critique partner is like gold.

    And you've got the right goals.

  5. I'm not much for resolutions. Every happiness in the new year.

  6. I've given up on resolutions, too. I'm always so certain I'll stick with them and always get sidetracked. I have goals though. This year I hope to devote as much time to my personal life as I do to my professional life. You have to experience life to write about it, right? (repeating that like an affirmation!)

  7. Very true, Beth. People watching works great too. You can get some great character ideas that way.

    I know there's days I wonder if I have a personal life. :}

  9. Hi Linda,

    I'm not much on New Year's resolutions. But I do like to set goals and try to achieve them. My goal this year is to get my singing venture up and going very soon and to finish my WIP by May. I'm up for it...I know I can do it!(I'm my own cheerleader!)
    I hope the next year is great for you and I can't wait to hear more about your on-line courses!

  10. Wave those pom poms, Bren! You've got your goals set and that's great.

    My classes start in Feb. I don't give pop quizzes. :}
